Our TrueView Interview section is an area where we ask one singular question, to mobile photographers and artists and it is captured to video. This time, we asked highly accomplished Mobile Photographer and Artist, Lorenka Campos from Texas, United States to consider and answer 'why I create self portraiture with my smartphone'. It is an interesting question to ponder, there are over 1.8 billion photos shared around the internet each day, many of these are selfies. The difference, we feel in our questioning is that we are asking artists. Therefore, do artists take self portraits because it gives them the opportunity to view themselves from the outside? That a considerable amount of other thoughts will, we hope, be uncovered in our new series of TrueView Interviews, enjoy!

Many artists are working on their videos right now and each video is as unique and individual as each artist. We are fully conscious and respectful that you are all capturing a part of yourself and sharing it with us and we love it.

Mobile Photography Awards 2017 (MPA) Now Open for Submissions

The Mobile Photography Awards (MPAs) have been a mainstay to the Mobile Photography and Art community for seven years. Featuring some of the very best artists throughout the world, celebrating their immense talent and energy. This years competition is now open to receive your submissions until 11 Deceomber 2017 and as always there is a grand prize of $3,000 up for grabs.

10 inspiring examples of architectural photography

In architectural photography, artists have time to study a building's form and then experiment with various angles, settings, timing and effects to achieve unique and interesting shots. 

Here we've scoured the web to find 10 top examples of architectural photography to inspire you.

01. Tour Eiffel

The Eiffel Tower as you've never seen it before. Image © Roger Madsen

This refreshingly original capture of the Eiffel Tower was taken by street and architecture travel photographer Roger Madsen. Based in Beijng, Madsen currently works as an Android architect at Sony Mobile. But that doesn't stop him from producing the stunning imagery that fills his portfolio.

02. Up and Above

When a massive amount of fog started to roll into Dubai Marina one day last year, photographer Sebastian Opitz was there with his Nikon D700 and fisheye lens to capture it. Taken from the Princess Tower, Opitz photographed this image from the 85th floor.

03. Hamburger Welle

Bildwerker speciliases in abstract architectural photography. And this is just one of the many beautiful photographs that feature in his awe-inspiring portfolio. Simple and elegant, this image is a unique take on the office building Hamburger Welle in Hamburg.

04. Time paints

The ageing of this building is depcited through various colours of paint used over the years. Image © kamenf

This thought-provoking photo was taken by photographer kamenf. Based in Serbia, the artist came across this old, derelict building featuring the remanence of different coloured paints used on its exterior over the years. No easy task, he captured the building's decay beautifully.

05. The Bridge

It's hard to believe that the artist behind this atmospheric image does photography just as a hobby. Armin Marten is a student of engineering in Hamburg, but in his spare time takes beautiful images of his surroundings. He captured this stunning bridge image while on his travels in Gellert, Budapest.

06. Cube House Eagle

A beautiful, creative capture of Rotterdam's Cube House Eagle development. Image © Guus Vuijk

This gorgeous, abstract image of the Cube House Eagle in Rotterdam was captured by photographer Guus Vuijk. Specialising in nature and travel photography, Vuijk comments on his website, "I practice photography as a fine art, the major objective being to produce well designed images that offer a personal view on the diversity of life in general."

07. Berlin Wall

This beautiful photo is part of a series of architectural images taken in Berlin by Federico Venuda

A perfectly composed shot, this image of the Berlin Wall was captured with a Panasonic DMX-LX3 by photographer Federico Venuda. On his travels, Venuda has taken many photos of various cities in Europe, including Paris, Prague and Brussels. But his (mainly black and white) Berlin series is by far our favourite, capturing the history and essence of the city beautifully.

08. City of colors

We just love this vibrant and creative image by photographer David Keochkerian. Using a slow shutter camera speed in his photography, Keochkerian's portfolio is full of beautiful imagery, a lot of which features surreal yet stunning colour created by shooting moving lights.

09. Divine workshop

Swedish photographer Janne Oikkonen achieves the perfect balance of composition and lighting in this stunning workshop photo

Hobbyist photographer Janne Oikkonen is the artist responsible for this incredibly detailed photo – so detailed in fact that on first glance we were convinced it was a pencil drawing. With the addition of a sepia tone, brilliant lighting and precise composition, the Swedish artist has transformed this old workshop into a truly gorgeous print.

10. Old wall

Skill behind a camera can turn the most ordinary of subjects into gorgeous works of art. Image © Choi Go Eun

This brilliant shot looks more like a painting than a photograph. The striking image was taken with a Nikon D90 by photographer Choi Go Eun. Featuring simple lines and great colour, this capture has turned an ageing building wall into beautiful piece of art.

Huawei's next mobile chipset is ready for our AI-powered future

According to WinFuture, this chip has significantly more transistors onboard (5.5 billion) than the Snapdragon (3.1 billion). It includes a dedicated "Neural Processing Unit" that appears to consist of purpose-built silicon (as Apple is rumored to have in the works), which differs from Qualcomm's approach on the current Snapdragon 835 (which is inside the latest Galaxy S8 / Note 8 phones as well as LG's V30). There, a "Hexagon" DSP built for other types of number crunching works with the rest of the chip to improve AI performance.

Meanwhile, ARM's updated Core-A75 platform (that Qualcomm and Huawei, among others, rely on) should start rolling out next year and bring with it another boost in AI power.

However it works, the Kirin 970's 8-core CPU and 12-core GPU claims "up to 25x the performance with 50x greater efficiency" than a quad-core Cortex-A73 processor alone. Thanks to its new design, the chip can chew through data faster while using less battery power -- something we can all appreciate. There's no word about the phone or other mobile devices we'll see this inside, but the Mate 10 seems like a sure bet, and there are rumors that device (or one like it) could show up in the US on AT&T early next year.

Mobile Photography Competition – MIRA Mobile Prize – Black & White Street Photography

I am delighted to announce that the new MIRA Mobile Prize competition is now open for entries.  This time the theme is Street Photography and Manuela Matos Monteiro, the host has described it as: "The true character of an environment can be found in people, streets, traffic, gardens and other public places. We invite you to show how you see the surroundings and the unknown places you visit. Through your photos, freeze moments in an original form, taking your point of view. Enjoy the invisibility and the immediacy of your mobile device! Share the way you see the streets of the world, registering moments and signs of human life. Types of street photography: urban cultur , street portraits, street art, travel, architecture, among others. The photographs in the contest can be edited according to the aesthetic options of their authors. The theme of the contest – street photography – does not fit into the strict context of documentary photography or photojournalism."

The deadline for submission is 12th September 2017.
