Online mobile photo sharing social network, Instagram has unveiled a new standalone app dubbed as Boomerang. Available in both Android and iOS platforms, this app creates GIF-Like looping videos, which is the app combines photo into one second videos that play forward and backward in a loop.
This app takes one-second burst of five photos continuously to create a mini video loop. Users can take the photos in both portrait or landscape and can be saved and shared in Instagram and other websites.
Previously, Instagram had launched the Hyperlapse app for the iPhone users which makes time lapse videos using stabilization technology followed by Layout app for Android and iOS that makes collages.
Instagram was created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger and launched in October 2010 as a free app. The service rapidly gained popularity, with over 100 million active users as of April 2012 and over 300 million as of December 2014. Instagram is distributed through the Apple App Store, Google Play Store and Windows Phone Store.
