PicMonkey Debuts Photo Editor App on iOS and Android, Photos Cry Happy Tears

PicMonkey, the leading online photo editing and design site, releases its mobile photo editor app for iOS and Android. Execs detail the long term strategy, which includes editing across device platforms, tying mobile release to its storage platform, Hub.

SEATTLE, WA (PRWEB) August 01, 2016

PicMonkey, the leading photo editing and design platform that helps users of all skill levels find their creative mojo, has announced the launch of its mobile photo editing app. The free app, titled PicMonkey Photo Editor, is available for iOS and Android devices in the App Store and Google Play.

"We didn't just miniaturize our photo editing site for the mobile screen," says PicMonkey CTO Frits Habermann. "We really focused on simplifying the image editing experience and building killer features people really need on the go." PicMonkey users can expect to find their favorite effects and filters, adjustment tools, and fonts, as well as new features like made-for-mobile stickers.

Each feature of the PicMonkey app has been engineered to deliver a gratifying, high-quality mobile editing experience. Users can make simple graphics or doodle on photos with a responsive Draw tool. They can layer multiple effects for a custom look. And they can paint effects on and off specific areas of photos with their fingertips, fueling myriad options for creative innovation.

The PicMonkey mobile app empowers users to truly bring their personalities to the photos they create—whether that means a beautiful landscape or something with slightly less gravitas. The large sticker collection—comic bubbles, beards, and Left Shark, to name a few— combined with the Draw tool, offer fodder for memes and gooftastic delights.

"When you put together the simplicity of the user interface, the whimsical extras, and the power of paint-on effects, we think PicMonkey's got a unique formula for image-making magic that no other app has," says Habermann.

Future updates of the app will include more PicMonkey favorites re-created for mobile and new mobile-exclusive features, all wrapped in the fun and flavor of the PicMonkey brand.

MOBILE IS PART OF A BIGGER CULTURE

The new mobile app is part of PicMonkey's larger play to make mobile and desktop interoperability a must-have piece of the photo editing workflow. With the recent beta release of Hub smart storage, users can edit the images they take with their phones immediately, and continue or expand their editing experience on the desktop.

"There are still a lot of interesting problems to solve in the photos and design space, and PicMonkey is here to solve them," says CEO Jonathan Sposato. "PicMonkey has deep history as a category expert and will continue to push out new ways to unleash people's creativity. Editing the same photos across multiple devices is a great example of that."
