Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has launched its "Shot on iPhone" campaign again. 9to5 Mac reports that the company has rolled out new billboards on Sunday, featuring some of the photographs captured from Apple's iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus devices.
The new campaign for iPhone photography contains 53 images captured from the tech company's trademark smartphone and will run through 26 countries. These images will be taken from the photography of 41 amateur and professional iPhone photographers.
The company's original iPhone photography campaign was a success and rewarded participants with coffee-table books containing their photography. It seems the company aims to trigger the same enthusiasm among participants for the second time. Since the new photos will be advertised through 85 cities, it is possible that Apple may consider adopting this marketing trend for its future variants as well.
However, this time, iPhone maker is encouraging participants to focus more on portrait photography; previously, it did not fix any criteria. Now for its 2016 campaign, participant Erin Brooks is an example of how the company is more inclined toward contacting those with natural, artistic photography. Ms. Brooks' photograph of her daughter on Instagram highlights the company's preference for selecting participants for the sequel of its campaign.
We believe that the company expects excellent photography after it managed to secure multiple awards for its previous work at the Cannes Grand Prix festival. Therefore, in order to stay on the top, Apple may soon unveil a video section as well for its online portal to promote photography and short mobile-made videos from the iPhone 6s.
Now with the 6s' improved 12MP camera, we believe that Apple's focus on advertising for the "Shot on iPhone" campaign through billboard advertising will be a good investment. The move also creates focus on Apple's reliance on this strategy to promote the iPhone to a larger range of consumers.
Furthermore, whilst the tech giant remains eager to lure in more users to boost iPhone sales, it might soon unveil a new webpage for users to access photos from the campaign online. Through this, Apple is not only encouraging individuals to broadcast their photographs to larger audience, but also taking mobile-photography to a whole new level of excellence.
